Recently Chef Navi took a lead and we are very excited and pleased to introduce our new Operations Manager to the highly successful Chillingworth Road establishment.
Navi takes up this prestigious role with a wealth of knowledge and experience gained both locally and internationally.
Navi first discovered his passion for cuisine at a very early age learning to cook from his Aunty, before enrolling in college to pursue a Hotel Management degree specializing in cooking.
After successful stints working similar roles throughout India, in international brand hotels including The Sheraton and catering appointments within the well regarded ITC (India Tourism company), Navi made the decision to relocate his family to New Zealand to diversify and expand his credentials and immerse himself in a different culture.
After taking up opportunities as a chef at Good Homes and Twisted Hop, he started his own landmark restaurant Blackbird Bar and Café in Sumner, which soon became a hotspot for locals and beachside visitors.
A keen and passionate cricketer, Navi can still be found rolling the arm over as a medium pace bowler within his hospitality and cultural community. When he is not heading up kitchen staff or hitting sixes, he can be found spending time with his young family and catering to his many friends who always seem to “pop in” around meal-times.
Navi is looking forward to using his talents to further enhance the already high-standard of dining, that Chillingworth is re-known for.
In addition, Chillingworth experienced staff are there to assist you with your food and wine choices and guide you through your dining experience. The cellar concentrates on premium wines from New Zealand, and around the globe.
The restaurant is separated into two areas, a relaxed bar up front for pre and post dinner drinks, and an elaborate dining room hidden away down the back. No matter which section takes your fancy, we are sure you will have an amazing experience.
